A new HQ scan of Emily in ‘Ocean Drive Venezuela’ has been added to the gallery. The picture is the same as the one that was featured in L.A. Confidential Magazine. The article is also the same, except it’s in Spanish.

I also have some news about Emily’s independant film Norman. First of all, the film has won the Grand Prize for Best Feature Film at the Rhode Island International Film Festival. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to see the film at the festival last week. Emily was absolutely amazing in it! Hopefully the film will get a wider release soon so you all have a chance to see it too.
In the meantime, the film will continue to make the rounds on the festival circuit. Its next two stops will be the World Film Festival in Montreal, which runs from August 26th through September 6th, and then it’s on to the Woodstock Film Festival in Hudson Valley, New York, which runs from September 29th through October 3rd. If you live in either area and want to attend a screening of the film, click the corresponding link below to visit the festival’s official website for ticket information:

I also want to take a moment to announce that Emily-VanCamp.com is now part of Emily VanCamp Online. Just wanted to give you guys the heads up in case you tried to surf onto their website and ended up here instead. If you’ve been a regular visitor here at evancamp.com, don’t worry, nothing is going to change. The site will simply be accessible through both URLs and we will be incorporating some of the media from that site into ours, though they didn’t have much we didn’t already have. Patrick, who operated emily-vancamp.com, will also be helping out here from time to time.
Details about Emily’s next project just keep on coming, as we’re finally starting to get a clearer picture of what kind of film Breakaway will be. We reported earlier this week that the film will revolve around ice hockey, and now Bollywood actor and ‘Breakaway’ producer Akshay Kumar has expanded on that by giving a short description of the movie during a recent interview:
In September, we will begin shooting in Toronto for my film Breakaway, which is a cross-cultural emotional family comedy with an ice-hockey background.
A brief summary of the plot has also been revealed:
The film is about a young Canadian Sikh who contends with his old-world father when his love of ice hockey helps take him and his team to a championship.
Though the description doesn’t make any mention of Emily’s role, I’m going to guess that she’s probably the son’s love interest and perhaps will contribute to the conflict between he and his father. It sounds like it could be a fun movie. I’m especially excited about the comedy part. I’ve always wanted to see Emily do a comedy, since she’s done so much drama in the past. So hopefully she’ll have plenty of funny scenes. I also have to admit, I’m hoping it’s a co-ed hockey team so that we get to see Emily on the ice! But we’ll just have to wait and see exactly what her role will be like in the film.
Meanwhile, one source is reporting that the film has already been picked up for distribution by one of Canada’s largest film distributors:
While shooting hasn’t even begun, Akshay Kumar has already sold distribution rights to Canada’s biggest distributor Alliance Films at a whopping price. The company researched Akshay’s background, his B-O appeal, star status and track record as a producer before buying the rights. Apparently, Breakaway will have a release in all major USA and Canada theatres akin to a Hollywood film.
Some more information has surfaced about Emily’s next project, which is set to begin shooting in Toronto next month. First of all, the title of the film is actually Breakaway. One word, not two as was earlier reported. The difference may seem minor, but it’s actually quite important with regard to what the movie is actually about. Yes, we finally have some idea of what kind of movie it will be. According to new reports, the film will revolve around Emily’s favorite sport—ice hockey! Which, of course, explains the title of the film.
No further details of the movie’s plot have been reported yet, so there’s still no information about Emily’s role other than what we already know, which is just that she’s playing the female lead. Meanwhile, according to one source, the producers have found their male lead. They’ve reportedly tapped a virtual unknown for the part—young Canadian-born actor Vinay Virmani, who is said to also be a very talented hockey player. Director Robert Lieberman also has some experience filming hockey scenes, as he directed one of the Mighty Ducks films.

New HQ scans of Emily in ‘Brown’s B Magazine’ have been added to the gallery. The magazine, published by a popular shoe store chain in Canada, recently ran a special celebrity issue in which various Canadian celebs modeled their products to promote a charity of the celebrity’s choosing. Emily was one of the celebs featured and chose ‘Doctors Without Borders’ as her charity.

I also have a minor update on Breakaway. Several more reports have surfaced about the upcoming film that pretty much confirm Emily has been cast as the female lead. While there’s still been no word yet of the film’s plot, it has been reported that the movie will be shot in Toronto, Canada from September 20th through November 1st. Hopefully more detailed info will be released soon.
